Port Alberni RCMP said a man who didn’t return to his house on Friday after a night out has been found dead off an embankment.
The man was last seen at 1 a.m. Friday leaving a friend’s house.
He was reported as missing to police and was located later that day down a steep embankment with fatal injuries, police said.
A search and rescue helicopter was deployed to extract the man from the rocky, 50-foot embankment.
Firefighters assisted with the retrieval, police said.
A forensic team was deployed to examine the scene.
Family of the deceased have been notified about the death and the incident is under investigation, police said.
