British Columbia Premier David Eby's new cabinet will be sworn in on Nov. 18, and it will have to feature a significant number of new ministers after last month's election saw several incumbents defeated while others didn't run.

Premier David Eby is proposing an all-party committee investigate mistakes made during the British Columbia election vote tally, including an uncounted ballot box and unreported votes in three-quarters of the province's 93 ridings.

Industry groups urge fiscal restraint.

In addition to a massive spike in campaign donations following the capitulation of BC United, the BC Conservatives are set to receive nearly $1.7 million in per-vote subsidy, for future operational costs.

Garry Begg's slim win over the 乌鸦传媒 Conservative candidate in Surrey-Guildford is still subject to a judicial recount, but for now it gives the NDP the 47 seats needed to form a majority in British Columbia's 93-seat legislature.

Recounts may not change election results very often, but British Columbia political scientist David Black says they play an increasingly vital role in demonstrating election integrity.
