The VPD have captured a goat that was running through the streets of Vancouver Sept. 27, 2024.

Update: 2:27 p.m., Oct. 2

The goat has gone home.

The owner of the goat that was found strolling the streets of East Vancouver had quite a journey, it seems, but is home safe, Vancouver police tell V.I.A.

"It appears that it went missing from Langley, and we have no idea how it ended up in Vancouver. We’re glad there was a happy ending," the VPD states in an email.

Home isn't in Vancouver, though. It's more than 30 km away, in Langley. How the goat got through Surrey, over the Fraser River, and into the city will likely remain a mystery.

Original: 12:25 p.m., Sept. 29

The Vancouver police got their goat.

But now the question is where did it come from and where should it go?

The goat was spotted in East Vancouver on Friday, Sept. 27, running around on an apparent evening out along East Broadway.

"Some of Vancouver's finest were able to corral and bring it to an officer’s family farm, while we track down the owner," wrote Deputy Chief Howard Chow in a .

It's unclear when someone may come forward. Under Vancouver's bylaws goats  as a pet in the city.

In a separate tweet the VPD says the goat is "doing fine."

V.I.A. has emailed the VPD about the goat and will update this story when more information is made available.
