Marcus proved he did indeed have nine lives.

A cat found close to death after being hit by a car is now thriving and ready for adoption thanks to a South Okanagan rescue.

Alleycats Alliance took in a cat hit on the highway in the Okanagan last month, after someone found the animal and thought he was dead.

The person brought him to a nearby vet out of compassion, hoping he would be cremated humanely.

"However, Marcus [the cat] proved that he did indeed have nine lives and was very much alive when he arrived at the vet clinic," Alleycats said in a press release.

Clinic staff dubbed him "Miracle Marcus," and undertook several operations to fix a broken jaw and leg.

Now, he is healthy and full of love and energy.

Alleycats is happy to announce he is ready for his forever home, following time spent recovering with a foster family.

"Marcus will always have a limp and a few scars but he is now able to jump and play with his foster mom and family. Marcus is very calm, loving, and easy-going," Alleycats says.

"Marcus is so happy and grateful to everyone who contributed to his recovery and to all the behind-the-scenes stuff that Lakecity [veterinary] staff and Alleycats volunteers did to make his life so much better!"
