TORONTO — Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:

Banking conference

RBC Capital Markets hosts its Canadian bank CEO conference on Monday. The meet up will hear from the leaders of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½'s big banks as they prepare to deal with a widely expected economic slowdown this year.

Macklem panel

Bank of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Governor Tiff Macklem will participate in a panel discussion at the Sveriges Riksbank’s symposium on central bank independence. The Bank of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½'s next interest rate decision and monetary policy report are set for Jan. 25.

Aritzia results

Clothing retailer Aritzia Inc. will release its third-quarter results after the close of markets on Wednesday. The company's second-quarter profit and sales were up from a year earlier as both its retail and e-commerce sales rose. 

Algonquin Power update

Algonquin Power and Utilities Corp. will hold an investor update call on Thursday. Shares in the company plunged in November after it reported a third-quarter loss and cut its financial guidance for the year.

Economic outlook

The Economic Club of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ will host is annual economic outlook discussion on Friday. A panel of chief economists will offer their predictions for the year amid worries over economic growth and the possibility of a recession.
