Rifflandia Festival has announced the first wave of performers for its 2024 edition, a list that includes platinum-selling rapper Ja Rule, ’90s hitmakers C+C Music Factory, and dance music favourite Rezz.
Other acts announced include rapper Channel Tres (who will perform a DJ Set), indie rockers Tokyo Police Club and Born Ruffians, bluesy rocker Garret T. Willie, and electronic acts Slayyyter, Nostalgix, and SkiiTour, among others.
The festival is set for Sept. 13-15 on the Matullia Lands in Rock Bay, where nighttime events at the multi-day music festival were held in 2023.
Rifflandia 2024 will be the first installment to be held exclusively at the Rock Bay location. In previous years, the arts and culture festival, which was founded in 2008, held its daytime programming at Royal Athletic Park. The event drew record daily audiences of 8,000 people last year, with a line-up that included appearances by Paris Hilton, Diplo, Iggy Pop, Salt-N-Pepa, and Run the Jewels, among others.
“We are thrilled to be breaking new ground at the Matullia Lands and announcing our first of three daily lineups, nearly one month ahead of last year,” Rifflandia president and CEO Nick Blasko said in a statement.
The line-up announcement Thursday — which was limited to the festival’s first day of programming on Friday, Sept. 13 — is one of three organizers have planned in the coming weeks. The second wave of performers booked to perform Saturday, Sept. 14 will be released May 9, while the roster for Sunday, Sept. 15 will be made public on May 30.
