The University of Northern British Columbia is offering two new continuing studies courses on machine learning and artificial intelligence.

UNBC is collaborating with a Calgary-based company called RoboGarden Inc. to deliver a Machine Learning Foundation Micro-credential and an Machine Learning Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp.

The courses are designed to meet the rapid changes being driven by artificial intelligence in industries across the region and around the globe.

They are also delivered using a curriculum and interactive online learning platform developed by expert engineers at RoboGarden.

The unique, game-based teaching approach is designed to meet learners on their terms, with no prior programming experience. The courses will also explore the concepts of machine learning to look at solving real-world problems across retail, finance and health care industries.

“Part of reimagining how we educate and learn to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world is through collaboration,” said UNBC Continuing Studies interim manager Stacey Linton.

She said the partnership intends to empower learners with the cutting-edge knowledge and skills to meet the emerging needs of the workforce, both at home and further afield.
