With the cherry blossoms starting to fall from Vancouver trees, it's time for a new flower to shine.
The will give Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley's flower children a new place to frolic. The 16th annual festival starts Monday, April 11, and expects to draw tens of thousands of visitors over several weeks.
"Justly famous for our namesake flower fields, our festival remains the largest tulip event in ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½, with millions of bulbs blooming each year," say organizers. "Our guests enjoy roaming among more than 20 acres of 30 tulip varieties, plus 15 types of daffodils. There will be more than nine million bulbs in all this year!"
While it's still the tulip festival, more flowers are joining in.
"We now have an additional three acres and 16 varieties of specialty double daffodils, that look like peonies, as well as over three acres planted in hyacinths!" say organizers.
Along with the fields of flowers, there'll be traditional Dutch foods to snack on.
The festival runs from April 11 to May 1. from $13 (for advance weekday tickets) to $25 (for day-of weekend tickets). There are discounts for children and seniors, and infants are free. So is parking.
