Crash on highway in North Cowichan sends three to hospital

One driver was airlifted to hospital, while the driver and occupant of the other vehicle were transported by ambulance.

RCMP are investigating a crash on the Trans-ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Highway in North Cowichan that sent three people to hospital with serious injuries on Saturday.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to the collision at the Trans-ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ at Mays Road.

Police determined that a white sport utility vehicle was turning left across the highway when it was struck by a southbound blue SUV.

The driver of the blue SUV was airlifted to hospital, while the driver and occupant of the other vehicle were transported by ambulance.

Portions of the highway were closed for about four hours so police could collect evidence and assess the scene.
