Disaster financial assistance is now available for people in the southwest, southeast and central parts of the province and on Vancouver Island who have been affected by flooding and landslides caused by heavy rain in the storm that hit the province last weekend and Monday.
The provincial assistance applies to Indigenous communities, municipalities and electoral areas, as well as homeowners, tenants, business owners, farmers and charitable groups that have been unable to get insurance to cover disaster-related losses.

Assistance is given for accepted claims at 80 per cent of the amount of total eligible damage exceeding $1,000, to a maximum of $300,000.
Claims can be made in more than one category, such as homeowner and farmer, while seasonal and recreational properties are not eligible for assistance.
