A man carrying a loaded handgun and tens of thousands in cash was arrested Thursday, Victoria police said.
Just before 10 a.m. officers arrested a man with a loaded handgun in the 200-block of Gorge Road East between the Gorge Road bridge and Carroll Street.
When police opened the man’s satchel they found more than $29,000 in Canadian currency and $320 in U.S. currency.
The man was prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous convictions for drug trafficking, robbery and other offences.
He was held in custody to appear in court and is facing five firearms-related charges, said police.
