A man was arrested near Willows Beach after one Oak Bay municipal worker was punched in the face and others were threatened with a knife, said police.
Oak Bay police responding to a reported assault on Esplanade Road on Friday found a man engaged in a “heated verbal dispute” with several municipal workers.
Police said the man allegedly broke a side mirror on a district vehicle, punched a worker in the face, and threatened other workers with a knife.
He was arrested for uttering threats, assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief under $5,000.
The man has been released with conditions, including that he not go to any Oak Bay park and not be within 50 metres of an Oak Bay municipal worker or vehicle. He is expected to appear in court in September.
Police said the matter is still under investigation.
