Saanich crews were busy repairing a water main break near Uptown that cracked the ground and sent water gushing down a road lined with car dealerships on Sunday evening.
About half a dozen workers were removing damaged asphalt on a block of Oak Street on Monday, having completed repairs to the water main on Sunday night.
Charge hand Jay Arsenault said the six-inch water main break was not uncommon in the municipality.
The road will be reopened on Tuesday and repaving is expected to occur on Thursday or Friday, he said.
It’s unclear how many buildings were affected by the break, he said.
