The only shuttle-bus service between Victoria International Airport and downtown has been suspended.
Wilson Transportation Group discontinued the service on Oct. 11, saying it was losing money because there were too few passengers.
“When we restarted service in August, we were hopeful that we could revive the service,” said chief executive John Wilson. “Unfortunately, with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, as well as travel restrictions, passenger counts remain too low to make the service viable at this time.”
There were no job losses, as airport shuttle drivers were shifted to other buses in Wilson’s operations.
Wilson said the company will review the service in the new year with an eye to a potential spring or summer restart.
There is no direct route from the airport to downtown via ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Transit. There are up to 28 departures to and from the YYJ terminal and the McTavish Road bus exchange, where passengers can make connections to buses to Swartz Bay, the Saanich Peninsula and downtown Victoria.
