Wind warning prompts Friday ferry-sailing cancellations

A wind warning from Friday night into early Saturday has led to the cancellation of two Friday-night ferry sailings.

ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Ferries called off the 8:15 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Duke Point and the 10:45 p.m. sailing from Duke Point to Tsawwassen as a safety precaution.

The warning was issued for Greater Victoria, the southern Gulf Islands and eastern Vancouver Island from Nanaimo to Campbell River.

Environment ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ said southeast winds could gust as high as 90 kilometres per hour in exposed coastal areas, with a possibility tree branches breaking and falling on power lines.
