A food bank in West Kelowna has been stripped of its charitable status by the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Revenue Agency.

The agency says Bette's Single Family and Seniors Food Bank violated numerous sections of the Income Tax Act. It says more than $45,000 in cash donations was spent on president Bette Ladd's wages, car and cellphone in 2008. Only $19,626, or 20 per cent of cash donations, went to food, it says.

Ladd says she is appealing the decision.
