Re: "Lenders to help struggling TLC," Aug. 3.
As lenders met with directors of The Land Conservancy last week, it became clear that everyone supports TLC for the great work it is doing - saving property that is valuable to our hearts
It is saving such lovely enclaves as Abkhazi Garden, a delightful, quiet respite from noise and exhaust fumes, right in Victoria.
This historical property was to have been bulldozed, replaced by condos crammed between two beautiful homes. TLC came to the rescue.
The house was improved to current codes, the kitchen fitted for restaurant use and the front room made into a lovely public eating space with a clear view of the lush garden through the large window. Now that's real development.
We happily became members, making loans and gifts to show our support.
The whole world is grappling with massive change. Some plans work for a while, some not at all. This is exactly what TLC is facing. Some solutions moved it ahead and some set it back.
Everyone at TLC has been giving 100 per cent, plus working double-duty and overtime.
TLC will definitely make good on all loans. There's no doubt of this. Alas, it may require selling special property that could be ruined forever. Now is the time for people to support what they believe to be important, by donating, giving a loan and becoming a member.
