Re: "Police chief backs licence tracking," Aug. 2.
Police Chief Jamie Graham stated the obvious. If you have nothing to hide you should have nothing to worry about. Any new tool to help the police do their job should be welcomed.
Any help the police have in their job of catching persons with outstanding warrants, suspended drivers, uninsured vehicles, etc., that are on the road with me should be applauded and has my support and should have the support of everyone.
An awful lot of effective traffic-law enforcement and criminal investigations is the mindset of people that says there is the risk of being caught. Licence-plate surveillance increases that.
I have been told that about 85 per cent of the public drive reasonably and obey the laws. They have nothing to hide or fear. It is my civil right to expect that those who don't should be caught by whatever means.
