In addition to the law regarding the safe handling of firearms, one must assume that the Victoria Police Department also had policies and procedures concerning such matters.
All of that not withstanding, Chief Jamie Graham failed to safely secure his own firearm and the VicPD managed to lose riot gear. Thus statements about trusting VicPD or believing it will safeguard data fall on deaf ears, especially when considering that Graham has been censured for "conduct unbecoming."
Thank you, but I would rather put my faith in our Charter than in Graham's promises.
