IG Wealth Management has awarded Regional Vice-President Karl Rebner and the Victoria Metro region office the Murray J. Taylor Community Builder Award for outstanding dedication to their community.

The Murray J. Taylor Community Builder Award is one of most prestigious forms of recognition and is presented annually to a region office that has demonstrated outstanding community commitment on multiple fronts.

To be considered for this award, the office must demonstrate depth and breadth in their community involvement over time through volunteer hours, dollars raised, overall community impact and recognition by community stakeholders.

Rebner shares that he’s proud of how the entire Victoria Metro team gets involved in helping the community.

“I know everyone in the region contributes, not for recognition, but for the impact they can make,” Rebner says. “As financial advisors, we have a unique set of skills and experience to really make a difference in our communities.

"Every year, an increasing number of individuals within our community require assistance, and I am enthusiastic about witnessing numerous members of our team demonstrate leadership by sharing their expertise in areas they are truly passionate about."

Victoria Metro was the sole organizer of the Victoria Walk for Alzheimer’s for over five years, led by region members Stacey Hooson, Bonny Stedman, and Brittany Dollis. They blew their 2022 goal of $15,000 out of the water by raising over $20,000 for the Alzheimer Society, supported by strong fundraising from Flanagan & Associates, Miles Fourier, Greg Garner, Paul Degagne and Gavin Molloy.

Additionally, through IG Consultant Milica Ivaz’s leadership, Victoria Metro won the 2022 Caring Cup for their community involvement with United Way through events, volunteer hours, and dollars raised. Milica also won the Outstanding Campaign Coordinator Award (under 100 employees) from United Way Southern Vancouver Island.

In addition to these team efforts, the region has many individuals contributing to causes in their community, including:

  • Consultant Neil Scott-Moncrieff has organized an annual IG blood drive for 18 years and counting.
  • Consultant Phil Bisset-Covaneiro is Director of Fundraising Efforts for the Pacific Centre of Family Services Association and the current Vice-Chair and Program Director of the local Advocis chapter.
  • Consultant Markus Wenzel volunteers for at least four different volunteer organizations.
  • Consultant Dan Greco won the 2022 Herbert H. Carnegie Award for his work as president of Anawim Companion Society.

The Murray J. Taylor Community Builder Award includes a $15,000 donation to a charity of the region office’s choice. The Victoria Metro team are spreading that donation across a number of local organizations that are close to their heart.
