Having been named one of BC’s Top Employers for 2023, the award-winning is actively hiring for a wide variety of positions in four municipalities on the northern tip of Vancouver Island: Alert Bay, Port Alice, Port Hardy, and Port McNeill.

These tight-knit communities offer the rare opportunity to experience rural living while enjoying close proximity to gorgeous coastal waters and mountains.

“I strongly feel that people who stay here do so for the sense of community. The natural beauty may initially draw people in, but we stay for the community,” says Kirie McMurchy, registered social worker at the Port McNeill Primary Care Centre/A'ekaḵila'as.

“People take care of each other here. Whether you are neighbours or colleagues, the expectation in a small community is that you chip in, you help out and you look out for people.”

“Island Health employees are important members of our communities on Northern Vancouver Island, and they work with so many people in the community to help serve different health-care needs,” says Michele Babchuk, MLA for North Island. “When people join our community to serve in the health-care system, we’re proud to be here to support and welcome them.”

Working for Island Health is the perfect opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts who are seeking strong community connections and passionate about helping others.
