CRANBROOK 6 - VICTORIA 4
The Victoria Grizzlies got their offence going again Saturday night in Cranbrook, but it wasn’t enough to earn a victory as the Bucks got a hat trick from Noah Quinn to edge Victoria 6-4 in front of 2,605 fans at Western Financial Place.
The Grizzlies, coming off a 6-0 loss the night before to the Wild in Wenatchee, jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the game was 10 minutes old thanks to goals from Olivier Picard and Jacksenn Hungle.
But then Quinn went to work for the Bucks, scoring two late in the first period and another early in the second. Eli Barnett got the Grizzlies back to even at 17:40 of the middle frame, but a minute later, Donovan Frias put the Bucks back up by a goal.
In the third, Rhys Bentham extended Cranbrook’s lead before Luc Pelletier got another one back for Victoria. Jack Silich sealed the deal for the home team with an empty-netter.
Ansel Holt made 40 saves for the Grizzlies, while Carter Capton made 29 saves to pick up the win in net for the Bucks.
Victoria, who drop to 7-8-1-2 on the season, are back on the road next weekend when they visit Powell River on Friday and Saturday for a pair against the Kings.
