The Victoria Shamrocks are one win away from perfection.
The Shamrocks defeated the Langley Thunder 10-8 at The Q Centre on Sunday night, to set the Western Lacrosse Association record for consecutive regular season wins with 17. And they’ll look to make it an 18-0 season when they take on the Salmonbellies in New Westminster on Thursday night in the regular season finale.
On Sunday, it was the King brothers leading the way again with Marshal getting two goals and three assists and being named the game’s first star, while older brother Jesse racked up a goal and four assists in being named third star.
The regular-season title means Victoria will have home floor advantage throughout the playoffs.
The loss dropped the Thunder (7-9-1) into third place, just behind the Salmonbellies, who were 8-8 heading into Monday night’s contest against the Maple Ridge Burrards (7-9).
LOOSE BALLS: The Junior Tier 1 Shamrocks claimed the league title and a berth in the provincial final thanks to a 9-6 win over the Coquitlam Tier 1 Adanacs in Game 2 of their best-of-three league championship series on Sunday afternoon at The Q Centre. The Teir 1 Shamrocks now advance to the best-of-three ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ championship series against the Kamloops Venom which begins this weekend in Kamloops. The series winner advances to the Founder’s Cup national championship tournament next month in Hamilton, Ont.
