Sabrina Blanchard grew up a member of the Selkirk First Nation in the Yukon. Now, she is embarking on a career as a licensed professional nurse working in the neuroscience unit at Victoria General Hospital. Blanchard’s recruitment was part of an Island Health effort to create a workforce reflective of the population of Vancouver Island, including its First Nations people. But make no mistake, she is not part of a quota — she is all about health care.
